Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)

Tuition & Fees

Qualified veterans and dependent students with transferred benefits will receive funding from US Department of Veteran Affairs for tuition and fees.

Those with less than 100% benefit will be advised of their prorated benefit level from the Department of Veteran Affairs.

  • US Department of Veterans Affairs pays SJC directly for tuition and mandatory fees only
  • Student may receive monthly housing allowance paid directly from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Student is responsible to pay SJC Room & Board charges per the announced due date.
  • Funding for books/electronic resources may be available, contact your VA Representative. SJC does not provide book vouchers.

Yellow Ribbon Program

The Yellow Ribbon Program makes additional funds available to eligible Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Saint Joseph’s College has enrolled to participate in the program for a limited number of eligible students. The VA will match each additional dollar awarded by the College up to total tuition and mandatory fees. Dependents and spouses must have at least four months of transferred eligibility to cover a full semester.

Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)

Tuition & Fees

Veteran Readiness and Employment (formally called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) Qualified veterans will receive 100% tuition and mandatory fees.

  • US Department of Veterans Affairs pays SJC directly for tuition, mandatory fees, books and supplies
  • Student receives monthly housing allowance paid directly from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, based on enrollment

Books

Full cost of books covered. At student’s request, SJC will issue a book voucher to be used at the school bookstore site.

Monthly benefit (Paid directly to the veteran or qualified dependent during periods of enrollment and while school is in session. Prorated based on course load.)

Housing

Program provides a monthly subsistence allowance for living expenses for up to 48 months to assist qualified veterans with service- connected disabilities.

  • Student may receive monthly housing allowance paid directly from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Student is responsible to pay SJC Room & Board charges per the announced due deadline.

Survivors’ & Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35)

VA’s Survivors’ and Dependents’ education Assistance (Chapter 35) program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents and survivors of certain Veterans.

  • US Department of Veterans Affairs pays the Student directly.
  • Student must meet SJC’s normal deposit deadlines for class & present SJC with VA Certificate of Eligibility with Complete VA file # and payee # info to document payment for the unpaid portion of the class.

ROTC

The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) offers quality leadership training – in addition to helping finance college education. Each branch of the ROTC has its own set of scholarships, aid offered, and service required in return for the money.

  • Amount of tuition, book allowance and monthly living subsistence is determined by the branch of the military and the ROTC program that the student is enrolled in.
