Teaches Environmental and Marine Sciences and Chemistry courses including Climate Change & Glacial Geology, Oceanography, Principles of Chemistry I & II, and Research Science on Sebago Lake.
Scholarly interests -- "acid snow" deposition in the White Mountains, sedimentary geology, geologic history of northern South America and the Andes.
Erikson's perspective as a geologist enables him to readily connect physical
and chemical processes with natural examples. Field-centered education and
research engage students, and strong conceptual and analytical capabilities
empower students for science-based careers. He is currently researching
acid-snow deposition on Mount Washington and investigating accumulation of
high-density minerals in a variety of environments. Outside of work, Professor
Erikson enjoys mountain climbing and Nordic ski racing.
