On Saturday evening, March 12, Saint Joseph’s alumni gathered at the Shaw’s Center in Brockton, Massachusetts, for a special night of stories, drinks, and celebration to honor the memory of the late John Waldron ’79.

The event coincided with the fourth Anniversary Mass for John, and served as a fundraiser for the John Waldron ’79 Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will help a student who exemplifies John’s character, his commitment to service, and his bigheartedness, to
attend Saint Joseph’s College.

This celebration was all about remembering John and raising funds for his legacy. It drew over 100 people from John’s SJC days and the Worcester/Brockton areas of Massachusetts, and raised nearly $20,000 toward the goal of $25,000. This far exceeded the scheduled three-to-five years it normally takes to endow a scholarship––a testament to John Waldron’s impact on people and his community.

Scholarship gifts can be made to the Waldron Memorial Scholarship through the Saint Joseph's website. For more information, please contact Senior Director of Development Jean Maginnis at jmaginnis@sjcme.edu or 207-893-7899.
