Interested in a career in medicine? Our Pre-Physician Assistant Track program prepares you for an exciting medical career with Saint Joseph’s Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology, Pre-Physician Assistant Track.

Pre-Physician Assistant

Students in the Pre-Physician Assistant Track program will be prepared for P.A. graduate programs and general work in the medical field. Working one-on-one with a faculty advisor allows students to carefully craft their course selections, participate in shadowing and patient care experiences, and conduct discipline-specific research in their senior capstone course. Our students graduate with the capacity to integrate new and pre-existing knowledge, keenly observe the world around them, and exhibit self-discipline and critical thinking skills. Combined, these tools help our graduates successfully pursue M.S.P.A. programs.

Orthopedic Surgery PA

Rachel Delgadillo, physician assistant“From the intensive courses that prepared me for the rigors of PA school to the opportunities made available that helped me stand out during the PA school interview process; SJC helped shape the PA I am today. The pre-PA track offered at SJC can be tailored to each student and their needed prerequisites for graduate school. The advisors are beyond helpful with assisting in creating the perfect undergraduate schedule that will compliment your future academic needs.

I attended the University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Institute, and I can confidently say that I succeeded because of my SJC professors and their dedication to make sure I was prepared for the next steps in my career goals. The professors at SJC are so supportive. They know all of their students by name and were always willing and available to help. In addition to learning in the classroom, SJC also offers involvement in the pre-PA (now Sciences) club on campus. This club, which I was honored to become president of my senior year, encouraged all of us striving for PA school to get together and support one another through the process as well as get involved with our community and spread the word about what it means to be a PA.

My favorite experience from my time at SJC was the ability to go on service trips to Guatemala where I was able to assist in their underserved clinics as well as educate their community on basic health care. I recommend every student, not just those interested in the pre-PA program, to take advantage of any service trips offered.

I have been a practicing Orthopedic Surgery PA for four months now and it is my dream job. A lot of it was through hard work and determination, however, I could not have gotten this far without my SJC community.”
